About us

Overview

Entrepreneurs at the earliest stages of developing technology and life sciences companies often need very specific advice and direction in order to structure and position their enterprise to succeed. In particular, they need to be aware of critical strategies to make their companies attractive to investors. The right set of advisors may be extremely difficult to assemble, particularly if entrepreneurs are not immediately considered viable investment prospects.

HiBEAM was founded in 2000 to help launch and build new technology, biotechnology and life sciences companies by providing them with expert professional advice and access to funding sources. Since then, the HiBEAM portfolio companies have raised over $100 million in equity funding. Click here for descriptions of the HiBEAM companies.

In 2006, HiBEAM expanded its capacity to provide informal, as well as formal mentoring. With the opening of HITEC (Hawaii Innovative Technologies & Entrepreneurship Collaboration) on the 4th floor of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, HiBEAM is implementing new programs to address the needs of scientists, technologists, and other individuals with inventions that have commercial applications.
